2025 Edition

Huge Success for the 9th Edition of the Crom Ride

Crom Ride – Girona, July 2nd, 2025

The intense heat tried to steal the spotlight in this new edition, but it was no match for the brave riders who decided to take part in the ultimate summer motorcycling event.

On June 27th and 28th this year, the 9th edition of the Crom Ride took place. As a reminder, the Crom Ride is a motor-touring event designed for bikers of all ages, skill levels, and motorcycle types to enjoy the roads and the stunning diversity of landscapes across the province of Girona.

650 participants chose to take part in a circular route featuring numerous twisty and iconic road sections. As always, the event enjoyed the invaluable support of the Costa Brava – Girona Pyrenees Tourist Board, aiming to promote fun on two wheels with never-boring, winding routes. Six strategically placed checkpoints allowed riders to enjoy a wide range of landscapes: from the city of Girona itself, to the mountains separating it from the coast, to the dramatic cliffs of the Costa Brava starting at Tossa… Then on to the beautiful lake of Banyoles, the volcanic lands of La Garrotxa, hidden gems like Beget, the high Pyrenean mountains, Ripollès, and even a detour through Berguedà and Lluçanès before returning via Osona through l’Esquirol, Vall d’en Bas, the Llémena Valley, and back to Girona. A 550 km route full of spectacular and contrasting scenery.

The Summer’s Must-Do Motorcycle Route

The village area opened on Friday at 3:00 PM at the Fontajau Pavilion, as in previous editions, where participants could collect their race numbers and welcome packs. The bar area proved to be an oasis for escaping the intense heat of the day—heat that would persist throughout the entire ride the next day. But our “cromrider” friends are fearless, and the heat became just another story to tell—an extra layer of epicness to add to the demanding journey that awaited!

Starting at 7:00 AM on Saturday, the first participants began to arrive, with official departure times staggered from 7:30 AM onward based on race number. After breakfast to gather strength, a couple of minutes of queueing, a smile at the photocall… and off they went!

The route began with a departure from the city toward Vidreres, taking a short and beautiful section through Mas Lluners—a hidden gem unknown to many riders. From there, the route reached the coast via Lloret, Tossa de Mar, and the spectacular GIV-682 (Tossa–Sant Feliu de Guíxols), then climbed toward the road to Sant Grau d’Ardenya, the location of Checkpoint 1, open from 8:45 to 10:55 AM.

After reaching Vidreres, the route continued toward Romanyà, Coll de la Ganga, and Madremanya—three iconic stretches for motor lovers—before easing off a bit into the Pla de l’Estany region, arriving at CP2 located by the Banyoles Lake, right at the Banyoles Tourist Office. This checkpoint was open from 10:05 AM to 12:45 PM, offering beautiful views of the lake and a great place to cool off. Some even went for a swim!

Back on the road via Sant Miquel de Campmajor toward Santa Pau and Olot, riders enjoyed the roads of the volcanic zone, surrounded by lush forest views. After crossing Olot, the capital of La Garrotxa, the ride continued toward Castellfollit de la Roca. On the descent, many turned their heads to take in the breathtaking sight of the village perched on a basalt cliff before entering the demanding road passing through Oix, Beget, and Rocabruna—a nearly endless series of slow curves through lush greenery and charming Romanesque villages. The descent into Ripoll led riders to climb once more through Setcases, continuing up to the stunning 2,150-meter-high views at the Vallter 2000 ski resort. CP3 was open here from 11:40 AM to 3:20 PM. Riders could stop for lunch at the resort’s restaurant or the food truck next to the checkpoint, while enjoying the fresh air and mountain views. Shoei also had a booth here offering helmet visor cleaning—very much appreciated after a bug-filled first half of the ride.

Rally-Lover’s Dream Roads

The descent took participants to Sant Joan de les Abadesses, then onto the legendary Collada de Santigosa and the scenic Vallfogona de Ripollès road—a true sensory pleasure. From Ripoll, the C-26 (known as the Les Llosses road), with excellent pavement and thousands of curves, led to Borredà in the Berguedà region (the only checkpoint in the province of Barcelona during the 2025 Crom Ride), where CP4 was located and open from 12:55 PM to 6:25 PM.

Despite the heat, the twisty roads of Alpens and Lluçanès led to the Esquirol area, where the winding Rupit road dramatically shifted in vegetation and scenery after the Coll de Condreu. More iconic roads for rally enthusiasts!

Arrival at Sant Esteve d’en Bas brought riders to CP5 at Can Trona, the Vall d’en Bas Tourist Office, in its emblematic building. This checkpoint was open from 3:00 PM to 8:15 PM. From here, riders faced a final 50 km stretch across the Llémena Valley, reentering Girona via Sant Gregori. The finish line, CP6, opened at 3:40 PM and officially closed at 9:30 PM. Each participant completed the ride at their own pace, planning breaks strategically to stay on schedule and properly hydrated. The heat couldn’t wipe the satisfied smiles off any of our riders’ faces!

To cap off a fantastic weekend, every finisher—riders and companions alike—received a well-deserved gift: a practical and authentic Crom Ride Buff (yes, the original!). A highly useful souvenir to use year-round! A great dinner and some refreshments in the village’s food area helped everyone recharge before heading home or to the hotel—already dreaming of next year’s edition…

Next year’s edition, the 10th Crom Ride, promises to be special, with plenty of surprises to celebrate this milestone together. It’s going to be an edition to remember—and one that everyone will be talking about! We’ll be waiting for you!

Girona Motorfest: The Big New Addition

Crom Ride always brings fresh news. This year, the most exciting development was the debut of a new event: Girona Motorfest. In its first edition, it shared space with the Crom Ride start area and aims to become the premier motorcycle festival in Girona in the years to come. Featuring new motorbike exhibitions, accessories, spare parts, used bikes, and—most importantly—test rides in a controlled and safe environment.

Exhibitors included Blanmoto Honda, Harley-Davidson Girona, Tecnimoto Figueres, Rieju, Girona Motorshop, CF Moto, SWM, Macbor, Kove, QJMotor, Yamaha Trafach, Zontes, Atlantis Moto, Vector Note, Ocasionista… A strong lineup of stands to browse, buy, or try out everything we love (or need) from the world of two wheels. Next year: even bigger and better!
